Affinity Plus Honored with the “Social and Viral Media” Award from the Marketing Association of Credit Unions

(St. Paul, MN) June 24, 2011 – Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union is the proud recipient of the recent “Social and Viral Media” Award from the Marketing Association of Credit Unions (MAC). This prestigious award, presented to deserving credit unions throughout the country, recognized Affinity Plus’s Facebook page.
“Our goal with creating a Facebook page was to engage members and non-members of Affinity Plus through this popular communication channel. With a two-prong approach, we wanted to further the understanding of who we are by engaging and educating our members and non-members, and provide a personal yet public channel that encourages feedback and participation,” states Sarah Mason, Senior Vice President of Affinity Plus.
Affinity Plus has gained over 1,300 followers since launching the page in October 2010, and the popularity of the page continues to grow with the number of “likes” increasing every day. The Facebook page has attracted people of all ages and backgrounds. Aside from the Wall, which hosts the conversations from fans and updates from Affinity Plus, the Facebook page offers several unique pages. “The Real Deal” provides a quick overview of what Affinity Plus is all about; the “Spotlight” captures the most popular products and provides links to the Affinity Plus Web site for more information; and “The Scoop” highlights current events and links to the quarterly newsletter.
“This channel has allowed our members to speak out, ask us questions, and connect with other members. We’ve been amazed at the ongoing participation and we’re excited about the future of this page,” states Mason.
The Marketing Association of Credit Unions (MAC) is a trade association for credit union marketing professionals. The MAC Awards are a nationwide competition sponsored by the Marketing Association of Credit Unions. More than 2,500 entries are submitted each year by credit unions of all sizes throughout the U.S.
