Affinity Plus names The Boldt Company as general contractor for new Grand Rapids branch

ST PAUL, MN (February 5, 2018) — Affinity Plus has named The Boldt Company as the general contractor for its new Grand Rapids branch.

“We chose Boldt because it has extensive experience working with other financial institutions,” said Matt Fuller, Affinity Plus director of finance. “We’re confident they can help us build a better product and a better member experience.”

The new community branch, located at the intersection of SE 2nd Ave. and SE 21st St., is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2018 after construction commences this spring, he said. The stand-alone branch will feature a multi-lane drive thru, spacious lobby and private meeting areas.

It will replace the credit union’s south location at 1200 S. Pokegama Ave. Affinity Plus has leased space and operated from that location since 2005. It will continue to operate its east community branch at 535 E. Highway 2, where it has been located for the past 25 years.

Fuller noted that Boldt has an office located in Grand Rapids, and local Affinity Plus leaders and staff were pleased to hear the credit union chose a well-respected contractor with a local presence. He added that Affinity Plus also sought a vendor with which it could develop “a long-term relationship as we continue to grow and enhance member services across northern Minnesota.”

“We are very excited to be working with Affinity Plus on building their member’s new branch and honored to be a part of building a stronger Grand Rapids community,” said Shelly Peterson, executive vice president of Boldt’s Minnesota operations, and a Grand Rapids-area native.

“Our members are telling us they’re super excited for our new branch,” said Ann Mack, Grand Rapids branch manager. “They are really proud to be a member of Affinity Plus, and that proves that we’ve done the right thing, making a long-term commitment to this community and region.”

CONTINUING THREE-PART STRATEGY: DIGITAL, PHONES AND BRANCHES
2017 was a busy year for Affinity Plus as it completed and opened new community branches in Mankato, Minn., and New Hope, Minn.; shifted from a smaller to a new, larger community branch in Cambridge, Minn.; and opened an expanded branch on the St. Cloud State University campus.

Taylor Murray, vice president of branch services, said Affinity Plus leaders continue to plan for a mix of renovation and new construction in the years ahead. It’s all part of the credit union’s three-part strategy of serving members with mobile and online banking; through phone services; and with community and on-campus branches.
