Affinity Plus partners with Ramsey County on video portal to share member, community stories

ST PAUL, MN (December 20, 2016) — A new online video portal that showcases Ramsey County, Affinity Plus member stories and other community businesses goes live today on the county’s website.

The county video series includes a welcome segment for new and current residents, businesses and visitors. Separate installments share information about workforce solutions; parks and recreation; and the county library system.

Affinity Plus’ three videos, which can be accessed by clicking on the Affinity Plus logo at the top of the screens, features three diverse credit-union member stories:

  • Keyondra Yarbrough, founder of the Wolves Den, explains how Affinity Plus is helping with financial education to participants of the culturally based group residential-housing program for American Indian women;
  • Suzanne Clark and George Derringer recount how Suzanne introduced George to the credit union when they first married, and how the services fit their busy retirement lifestyle;
  • Dan Schmidt, Great River Office products vice president, explains how Affinity Plus is a vital partner in his long-standing community business.

SHARED HISTORY AND VISION
Dave Larson, Affinity Plus president/CEO, said the credit union chose to partner with Ramsey County on the portal, in part, because it agrees with sentiments Victoria Reinhardt, Ramsey County Board of Commissioners chairperson, shares in the welcome video.

“We in Ramsey County honor our past while always looking toward the future, growing through new opportunities each day,” Reinhardt says.

“Affinity Plus got its start in St. Paul as State Capitol Credit Union,” Larson said. “Our roots definitely are here, even as we have branched out to serve members across Minnesota and beyond.”

Larson added that Lafayette and Capitol branches are active in St. Paul through engagement with the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce. Financial educators work in St. Paul schools and other organizations.

“And whenever we can, we partner with local businesses to provide maximum value to our membership and Ramsey County residents,” he said.

The Affinity Plus videos will be available to view through the online portal throughout 2017.
