Air Force Federal Credit Union Holds Fort Sam Houston Branch Grand Opening

SAN ANTONIO–Air Force Federal Credit Union (Air Force FCU) held its grand opening of the new Ft. Sam Houston branch on Monday, August 1, 2011. The branch, located at 1023 Rittiman Road, Suite 105 San Antonio, TX 78218, opened its doors with a special ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:30 am.
San Antonio Greater Chamber of Commerce President Richard Perez and the chamber ambassadors read a proclamation before the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon. Carla Trager from the Texas Credit Union League also presented Air Force FCU board chairman Sam Farace, Jr. and President/CEO Bob Glenn with a special plaque commemorating the branch opening.
Air Force FCU’s Ft. Sam branch is conveniently located at the corner of Harry Wurzbach and Rittiman Road in the Sam Houston Center. This branch forms part of the credit union’s increasing commitment to the military community at Ft. Sam Houston and the northeast side to provide more branches and ATMs for customer convenience, as well as providing a boost to local employment.
“In recent years our credit union has grown and developed to serve our fine military worldwide. We’ve laid a foundation to provide remote services unique to our members’ lives,” said Bob Glenn. “But we do not want to get away from the personal service and convenience that our members enjoy, which has been a hallmark of our tradition. Our branch expansion fulfills this commitment. “
Those remote services include 24/7/365 member contact center, live chat, online banking and mobile banking. Now with Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) transferring many personnel from Lackland AFB to Ft. Sam Houston post, the credit union was able to achieve its goal to serve our members with a physical branch.
After the ribbon cutting ceremonies, the festivities continued with country radio station Y100 broadcasting live from the branch from 10:00-12:00. Members who applied for a loan or opened an account during the grand opening were allowed to enter a special money booth for cash and prizes. Food, refreshments and gifts were provided to all and a special appearance by San Antonio Mission’s mascot, the Ballapeno, topped off the day.
The Ft. Sam Branch Manager, Manny Serna, heads a staff of seven employees and who offer members a full range of financial products and services. The branch opened for business on Monday, July 11th and hours are Monday thru Friday from 9 am -5 pm and on Saturdays from 9 am until 1 pm. A 24-hour ATM is available to all.
