TALLAHASSEE, FL (April 13, 2016) — The Alabama Credit Union Association (ACUA), an affiliate of the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU), announced today that it has named Alabama House Minority Leader Craig Ford (D-Gadsden) as its 2015 ACUA Lawmaker of the Year. Rep. Ford was presented with the award by local credit union officials during the Alabama State Governmental Affairs Conference in Montgomery on April 5.
“Rep. Ford has shown through his actions to understand credit union issues and how they affect their local members,” said Patrick La Pine, LSCU president/CEO. “He co-sponsored legislation to help modernize the State Credit Union Act, which was sent to the governor’s desk this year. He also supports municipalities’ freedom of choice when it comes to public deposits. Rep. Ford knows first-hand how locally based credit unions help their members succeed.”
