The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU & Affiliates) and the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) are proud to announce that Alabama Credit Union has won a statewide 2022 CUNA Award for outstanding outreach to its members and communities. The annual CUNA Awards bestow the highest honors to credit unions that are making a difference around the country.
CUNA has recognized Alabama Credit Union in Tuscaloosa, Alabama with the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award in the more than $1 billion asset-size category. The Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award encourages and honors credit union involvement in community projects and activities.
“CEO Steve Swofford and the team at Alabama Credit Union are proof that the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people’ is front and center in the state of Alabama,” said Patrick La Pine, CEO of LSCU & Affiliates. “Alabama Credit Union created the Secret Meals program to help low-income families with nutritional gaps they may face over the weekend. As some students only receive breakfast and lunch during the school week, this program ensures students have something to eat even when they are not in school.”
Alabama Credit Union has been entered into the national awards program administered by CUNA. The results of the national contest will be announced in the weeks ahead.
