Align Credit Union supports Habitat for Humanity

Volunteers help during National Women build week

LOWELL, MA (May 15, 2017) — Align Credit Union’s employees proudly supported Habitat for Humanity’s 10th Annual National Women Build Week on May 11th.  They helped with construction on a single-family home at 1067 South Street in Tewksbury. When completed, the house will be home for Maimunah and Abdul Karim and their three children, ages 1, 8 and 10. The new home will provide much needed space for the growing family as well as handicapped access for their middle son, Ahmad, who has spina bifida and is in a wheelchair.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell is a non-profit working towards eliminating poverty housing and homelessness by building and rehabbing simple decent affordable homes with the help of the homeowner and volunteers. Qualified families need to apply and be committed to volunteering 450 hours of labor on their homes or other projects. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell builds homes in Bedford, Billerica, Burlington, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Concord, Dracut, Dunstable, Lowell, Reading, Tewksbury, Tyngsboro, Wakefield, Westford and Wilmington.

“Align has continued to work with us in the Lowell community for well over five years now. We know that we can count of them to always keep the community in mind. Their ‘can do’ attitude makes it a pleasure to work with everyone there, at all levels,” said Brenda Gould, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell. “We are all very fortunate to have a company like Align, who puts their words into action and is a real partner in the community.”

“The women of Align look forward to this event every year. It not only connects them to the people in the communities we serve but also helps make a real difference. By providing a home to a deserving family, Habitat for Humanity, changes lives.” said Align President Ken Del Rossi. “Align is proud to be involved with such an amazing organization.”
