AltaOne Art Gallery opens in Ridgecrest
RIDGECREST, CA (August 5, 2016) — The works of Ridgecrest, CA, resident Frances Nichols are featuring at the inaugural AltaOne Federal Credit Union art exhibition, located in the credit union’s corporate member service center in Ridgecrest. The exhibit runs through August 31, 2016.
According to AltaOne’s Member Service Center Manager Janelle Hockenbrocht, AltaOne plans to present a series of exhibits featuring local artists over the next several months. Hockenbrocht added, “We had a great turnout at the unveiling of the AltaOne art exhibit. We were thrilled to have local artist Frances Nichols show case her beautiful artwork. We encourage all residents to visit our Ridgecrest corporate location and have a look for yourself.”
Nichols’ website explains, “My work is based on the tradition of the early California Impressionist plein-air painters and their emphasis on colored light. The works are in watercolor, pastel and oil, done on site or from my photos.
My paintings investigate the local scenery of the high desert, the Sierra Mountains, and the Los Angeles coast. I like to explore lighting effects and the changes they create. For me the landscape is a prism where the time of day can transform the light moving through it into constantly changing color.”

AltaOne is seeking additional local artists to feature at the gallery. Contact Janelle Hockenbrocht for more information: jhockenbrocht@altaone.net.
