America First Credit Union (AFCU) and its partner, the Utah Jazz, announced today that BrightBox, a Utah-based gifting and recognition company, is the grand-prize winner of its inaugural Small-Business Spotlight Contest following the recent live finals event in the Legends Club at Vivint Arena. BrightBox received a $250,000 single-season sponsorship to promote the company’s mission to brighten a million days through sending carefully selected care packages to those that need to feel remembered, to feel loved, and to feel connected to someone. The sponsorship also includes business and marketing strategy meetings with executives from the Utah Jazz and America First Credit Union.
“Small businesses are integral to the Utah community,” said Tammy Gallegos, EVP Chief Strategic Engagement Officer. “America First is honored to provide the resources and tools to help small businesses succeed. Whatever their goals may be, we are proud to be part of their journey. Thank you to our partner, the Utah Jazz, for providing a platform for small businesses, and congratulations to BrightBox and all the finalists.”
“We are happy to partner with America First Credit Union that believes in small businesses,” said Utah Jazz CCO, Chris Barney. “The small business spotlight supports and emphasizes how essential small businesses are to our local community. Congratulations to the winner and all other finalists.”
Shea Workman started BrightBox in 2017 as a side business out of her garage, allowing people to bring joy to others in an easy and affordable way without the hassle, time, and forgetfulness that keeps most from recognizing others. BrightBox is built by givers who simply select a confetti card, a curated and pre-selected mood box, or can build their own box for as little as $5. Giving someone a little “thinking of you” has never been easier. Now with over 98,000 customers and a dedicated warehouse with a happy team of 13, they have brightened over 300,00 days and counting.
“We are ecstatic and grateful to be named the America First Credit Union and Utah Jazz Small-Business Spotlight Winner,” said Workman. “BrightBox remains committed to the idea of thoughtfulness, making it easy and affordable for people to follow through on their good intentions. This partnership means everything to us and truly allows us in growing the awareness of knowing they can lift and love each other, especially the people here in Utah."
The winner and finalists were invited to a special event to showcase their business. Finalists of the 2022 Small-Business Spotlight competition include: (listed in alphabetical order)
