RIVERDALE, UT (June 26, 2014) -- In celebration of its 75th anniversary and unsurpassed service to members and the communities it serves, America First Credit Union will host a “Summer of Loans” campaign of giveaways which will run the 75 days of June 16 through August 29. A series of prizes will be awarded each day of the campaign, to include concert tickets, electronics, tickets for sporting events and more.

Members can enter daily to win one of 75 prizes through the America First Facebook page, as well as at americafirst.com/summer.

Established March 16, 1939, America First Credit Union revels in its diamond anniversary with a number of celebrations and events each month throughout the year for both members and employees. A celebratory 75th anniversary logo was unveiled for use in advertising efforts and on promotional products and branded items. In addition, the organization launched a marketing campaign titled “Embracing Our Legacy: NOW is Our Time.” Reflecting on its legacy and pioneering spirit, the message is intended to convey the importance of honoring the roots of the credit union while embracing today’s opportunities for members, employees and communities.

Remaining true to its roots, America First Credit Union has maintained its position as an organization with deep and abiding human values. Founded at the Hotel Newhouse in Salt Lake City, Utah, R.D. (Ray) Hagen was a volunteer who eventually become the first full-time employee and later president and CEO. The credit union was established in a small office housed in Fort Douglas' Building 207, with service hours on Fridays only from 3:30 to 4 p.m. A Prince Albert tobacco can was used to hold all cash deposits at the time; total assets and membership were $788 and 79, respectively.

The founders and first members of America First Credit Union paved the way for today’s member-owners. Today, 75 years later, the organization operates as it always has, with a focus on members’ needs and overall financial well-being, while effectively servicing the communities it serves.
