America First Credit Union gives $100,000 to local organizations

Ten charities to receive $10,000 each for their efforts to improve the communities in which America First Credit Union operates

RENO, NEV (December 11, 2018)WHAT:            To cap off 2018, America First Credit Union’s non-profit organization, the America First Charitable Foundation, will donate $10,000 to 10 organizations at its annual Community Assistance Holiday Giving event on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at the Davis Conference Center in Layton, Utah.

The $100,000 in donations will support organizations that work tirelessly to improve the lives of others in the communities in which America First operates. Organizations receiving a $10,000 donation this year include: Christmas Box International, The Road Home, SafeNest, The Lantern House Homeless Shelter, YCC of Northern Utah, the Cathedral of the Madeline Good Samaritan Program, For the Kids, Three Square, the Food & Care Coalition and the Catholic Community Services Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank.

In addition to the annual $100,000 donation, the America First Credit Union Charitable Foundation supports many programs throughout the year, including the Warm the Soles of Kids holiday shoe giving program, various educational scholarships and a community food drive.

The Community Assistance Program provides funds to assist homeless and other disadvantaged individuals in the communities America First serves. Funds for the Community Assistance Program are raised through America First Credit Union member donations and are distributed to organizations that provide job assistance, training, housing, food and medical attention to those in need.
