American 1 raises over $5,200 for Adopt a US Soldier program

JACKSON, MI (November 5, 2015) — American 1 Credit Union is proud to give back and support our military men and women who are serving overseas. During the months of September and October American 1 raised funds in a variety of ways to support the Adopt A U.S. Soldier Program.

Adopt A US Soldier is a non-profit organization that connects supportive civilians with deployed troops and offers a way to communicate encouragement and gratitude to those brave men and women serving in the United States Armed Forces. American 1 Credit Union raises funds annually for the Adopt A US Soldier program to send care packages overseas in time for the Holidays.

During the month of September, employees raised money by donating for dress down days. The American 1 Home Office, North Street, Hillsdale and Vandercook branch locations held special “Popcorn Friday’s” to get donations from members. During the month of October, college-themed can coolers were sold at every branch as a fundraiser. A total of $5,226.68 was raised.

The funds allow American 1 to adopt four units this year, comprised of over 250 soldiers. Supplies and care packages will be purchased and prepared for the units and mailed out prior to Thanksgiving to ensure the packages reach the troops by Christmas.
