On March 1, 2011, the Association for Strategic Planning awarded American Eagle Federal Credit Union an Honorable Recognition for the Richard Goodman Strategic Planning Award.

The international award was presented to Dean Marchessault, Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of American Eagle Federal Credit Union at the Association for Strategic Planning’s annual conference in Dallas, Texas.

The Credit Union is one of only four organizations honored this year, and the first credit union and the third financial institution recognized since the award’s inception in 2001. According to the Association for Strategic Planning, the rigorous award criteria were extremely high. Recipients must demonstrate excellence in strategy formulation, industry/customer analysis, innovation, plan implementation, and performance management. They also must show evidence of achieving concrete business results through their strategic planning efforts.

American Eagle Federal Credit Union was commended for its overall strategy formulation process, with a particular strength in plan implementation and performance measures.

William Dokas, President and CEO of American Eagle Federal Credit Union, said, “The Credit Union has elevated its strategic planning process through the involvement and hard work of its volunteer Board of Directors and its planning partner, the Institute for Strategic Learning.   We are honored to accept this award as it demonstrates the substantial progress we have made in this critical area.”

Also receiving Honorable Recognition this year were the Town of Richmond Hill (Ontario, Canada) and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. The Maryland Youth Classic Orchestras was the overall competition winner.
