American First Credit Union supports local therapeutic-riding organization

BREA, CA (January 19, 2017) — American First Credit Union started the New Year with a donation check of $3,000 to a Fullerton-based nonprofit, Tara’s Chance. The credit union was introduced to Tara’s Chance through long-time associates, Debbie and Bill Huff, whom are involved in the organization with their 6-year old son, Will.

“Their jaws dropped to the floor when we told them about the donation,” stated Debbie Huff who is an AFCU associate and volunteer for Tara’s Chance. She commented that Tara’s Chance mainly relies on donations, meaning the parents and volunteers must find different opportunities to raise funds for the program.

Tara’s Chance is an organization providing therapeutic horseback riding for at-risk youth and children with special needs. After four years of providing its services, they now serve 32 children in the Northern Orange County area whom are able to participate on partial scholarships. The donation from American First Credit Union will be used to sponsor participants and care for the horses. “Not only does Will have fun riding the horses, but he is able to work on his sensory, physical and compliance therapy,” remarked Debbie

American First associates have supported Tara’s Chance in the past by attending fundraisers with the Huffs. In addition, they have partnered with other organizations, such as TACA (Talking about Curing Autism), that provide resources to families with children who have been diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).
