American Marketing Association recognizes Central Texas Credit Union executive with highest honor in chapter leadership

The award was presented to Stacy Armijo, Chief Experience Officer of Amplify Credit Union and Former AMA Austin Chapter President, at the AMA Leadership Summit in Chicago

AUSTIN, TX (May 21, 2019) — The Austin Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) and Amplify Credit Union are proud to announce that Stacy Armijo, Chair-Elect for the National AMA Board, was awarded the 2019 Ric Sweeney Chapter Volunteer of the Year for outstanding professional chapter leadership and her commitment to AMA’s goals. Armijo was recognized at the annual AMA leadership Summit in Chicago on May 4 and was presented the award by Ric Sweeny, the award’s namesake, himself.

“As a member and community-focused organization, Amplify Credit Union recently initiated a new social impact program led by Stacy called, “a safe place to call home” where we are identifying ways we can help support Central Texans who are in need of safe housing,” said Paul Trylko, Amplify Credit Union CEO. “For the Amplify family, this award is a shining example of Stacy’s ability as a professional to use her expertise and industry knowledge to not only better our service as a company, but influence and support the communities in which we live, work and play, all year round.”

Armijo is Chief Experience Officer (CXO) for Amplify Credit Union, a $1B credit union in the Austin area where she is charged with leading teams to weave together the online and offline experiences that drive exceptional service for the organization’s members and steward the branding, marketing, public relations and social impact initiatives that connect Central Texans to the credit union.

“Today’s culture is motivated by leaders who devote time to empathizing, nurturing, teaching, and empowering,” said Russ Klein, Chief Executive Officer of AMA. “People who meet Stacy feel like the most important person in the world and feel understood. What else could anyone ask for in anyone?”

Beginning her service with AMA in 2004, she has since held numerous leadership roles. She served as President of the Austin AMA chapter in 2006-07, where she drove membership growth and earned an Award of Excellence in Programming. She then joined AMA’s Professional Chapters Council and served five years, one as President. Today, Armijo is Chair-Elect of the national AMA Board, partnering with fellow board members, many other volunteers and the organization’s exceptional staff on the continuing journey from “The AMA” to “One AMA” and ultimately, toward “My AMA” for members.

Also active in the Austin business community, Armijo serves on the Board of Directors for the Austin Chamber of Commerce and recently earned recognition as a Volunteer of the Year for her service on the Member Relations Council. In addition, she is a Trusted Advisor for Vistage International, the world’s foremost chief executive leadership organization.
