AMOCO celebrates International Credit Union Day

AMOCO Federal Credit Union proudly joined the global celebration of the 77th annual International Credit Union Day (ICU Day) on Thursday, October 16. In the spirit of “people helping people,” this day celebrates the invaluable contributions of credit unions and financial cooperatives worldwide, while encouraging members to engage in their communities.  

To mark this special occasion, AMOCO hosted a variety of events throughout the month, with each week spotlighting youth, community, financial education, and advocacy.

  • Youth Empowerment: The Kidz Biz Market featured 20 young entrepreneurs, showcasing handmade crafts, slime, lemonade, baked goods, and more.
  • Community Support: AMOCO delivered treat boxes to local chambers during Texas Chamber of Commerce Week.
  • Branch Revitalization: An open house event marked the reopening of the renovated Texas City Branch, now featuring video banking kiosks, ITMs, and enhanced drive-thru lanes.
  • Member Appreciation: Over 700 members attended a family-friendly event at Main Event in Webster. In addition, AMOCO partnered with the Galveston County Food Bank for the event, where members generously donated 167 pounds of canned goods.
  • Volunteerism: Community Shred Day securely shredded 7,500 pounds of paper. Additionally, Galveston County Food Bank representatives collected $547 in monetary donations and 97 pounds of canned goods for local families. AMOCO employees also volunteered at the Galveston County Food Bank’s Haunted Warehouse.
  • Financial Education: AMOCO promoted Credit IQ, a free credit monitoring tool offering personalized financial insights.
  • Advocacy: A luncheon honored local elected officials and celebrated their support of the credit union movement.
