AMOCO Federal Credit Union celebrates International Credit Union Week
TEXAS CITY, TX (October 20, 2015) — In honor of International Credit Union Day (ICU Day), AMOCO Federal Credit Union dedicated an entire week to celebrate the credit union movement with various events starting on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Last week credit unions rallied together to celebrate the accomplishments they have made throughout the years. To succeed in a competitive financial industry, credit unions have to offer a new way to “bank.” These new ways put people before profit and offered an industry made by the community, for the community. Along with those benefits, credit unions also offer lower rates, higher dividends, financial education and much more.
This year’s theme for ICU Day just happens to be every credit unions mantra, “People Helping People.” As a credit union that is dedicated to their community year round, AMOCO was more than thrilled to help the people this past week! To kick-off ICU week, AMOCO partnered with The Rose to offer mammogram screenings for the community. Next, AMOCO provided sweet treats to their members from Shiver Shack and Savannah’s Bakery from Wednesday through Friday. On ICU Day, Thursday, Oct. 15 AMOCO hosted their annual Political Meet and Greet. AMOCO invited the Galveston Chapter of Credit Unions as well as elected officials and candidates from Galveston and Harris County. To end the week AMOCO held a shred day at their Bay Colony Branch – 3350 Cross Colony Dr. followed by their Member to Member Expo, which included: shopping, music, food, face painting and more.
