For the ninth consecutive year, Ardent Credit Union awarded scholarships to 11 local high school seniors to help them pursue a higher education degree. In keeping with the credit union philosophy of people helping people, and Ardent’s continued advocacy for financial wellness, the credit union awarded $12,500 in total to deserving members.
High school seniors who demonstrate academic excellence, participate in volunteer organizations and/or hold part-time jobs were among those chosen to receive a scholarship. All applications were reviewed and scored by the Ardent Scholarship Award Committee.
“We have an incredible group of scholarship winners this year that we know will go on to achieve great success,” said Rob Werner, President & CEO of Ardent Credit Union. “We’re honored to be able to support them as they continue on their journey and pursue higher education.”
The top honor was awarded to Gregory Boudreau of Atlanta, GA. Gregory will be attending Georgia Tech in the fall, and received a $2,500 scholarship which he intends to put towards his studies of Electrical Engineering. Additional scholarship winners include Amelia Shaddinger, Mathew Simms, Maile Erwin, Grace Gormley, Ahila Moorthy, Charles Flynn, Adwaita Patil, Michael Thomas Hullihan, Nya Fields and Alexander Williams, who all received $1,000 each.
The students, along with their parents, were invited to attend a special reception hosted by Ardent Credit Union. At the reception, the students received formal recognition as this year’s scholarship winners.
