Arizona State Credit Union Named 2012 Healthiest Employer in The Valley

Credit Union’s dedication to wellness earns recognition

PHOENIX, Ariz. –Arizona State Credit Union was awarded the Valley’s Healthiest Employers award for its innovative workplace wellness program by the Phoenix Business Journal.

As an associate-focused organization, the Credit Union offers a variety of health-promoting programs and activities including, onsite treadmill workstations, relaxation centers and yoga classes. Additionally, the local financial cooperative offers gym reimbursements and provides weight loss incentives through its partnership with Weight Watchers.

Associate health screenings, which measure blood pressure and cholesterol among other evaluations, are incorporated into the wellness program to help identify common long-term health issues. With these preventative measures in place, the screenings have encouraged behavioral changes and a reduction in chronic conditions, saving the Credit Union more than $325,000 in claims in 2010.

The program, which began in 2007 with a budget of $10,000, has experienced steady growth and retention. As a result, the program now has more than 200 participants.

The Valley’s Healthiest Employer award was created to recognize companies committed to creating a healthy workplace. The assessment is conducted by Indianapolis-based Healthiest Employer LLC and is comprised of six key categories: Culture and Leadership, Commitment, Foundational Components, Strategic Planning, Communication and Marketing, Programming and Interventions, and Reporting and Analysis.
