Art Director Gail Dishman won first place in design competition

DAYTON, OH (November 17, 2017) — MarketMatch, a full-service financial marketing firm headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, is celebrating Art Director Gail Dishman’s first place win in a very unique design competition.

“Cropped,” Dishman explains, “was modeled after the TV show, Chopped. Like the cooking show, there were three rounds. In each round we were given a basket of mystery materials to use. In each round our work was judged by a panel of professional judges, and in each round one designer got eliminated or “cropped.”

The designer who made it to the end without getting “cropped” would be crowned “Cropped Champion.” Dishman’s win earned her the $500 top prize. This live graphic design competition was put together and hosted by the AMA and AAF of Lincoln, Nebraska. Dishman lives in nearby Utica with husband Dale, and children, Parker, 10; Macy, 7; and Miles, 4.

“One of the more ‘out there’ challenges was to create an invitation to a Sweet 16 party … for your sister-in-law’s Siamese cat, Maribel. The mandatory elements in the design basket included an Outer Space theme, Desdemona font and a photo of the cat.”

Prior to the competition, Dishman had to win a preliminary contest to become one of the four finalists. For that challenge, local designers were asked to redesign the AAF’s initial flyer for the event. From those entries, the public voted for their four favorite flyers.
