To celebrate their unique culture and values, Vantage West Credit Union called upon local, award-winning artist Karlito Miller Espinosa to create an interior mural at their corporate office. The mural features nine elements significant to Arizona’s history and Vantage West’s values.
The yellow “V” is the most notorious element of Vantage West’s branding, depicted as a prism through which Members can see their prosperous tomorrow. Mountains represent the geological richness of Arizona, and a rainbow coloring the mountain base represents diversity.
On one side of the “V,” a woman wears an Air Force uniform, honoring Vantage West’s beginnings at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Next to her is a local small business owner, underscoring the importance of locally-owned businesses that drive our economy.
Further highlighting Arizona’s rich history and diversity on the right side of the “V” is a Latina woman and Black cowboys, who represented 25% of cowboys in the Old West (Smithsonian).
A hummingbird symbolizes the environment and migration, while agave and prickly pear nod to the Sonoran Desert and Arizona’s bicultural border region.
This mural is one expression of Vantage West’s commitment to the local communities it serves and a celebration of the traditions rooted in its rich Arizona heritage.
