Austal USA selects Alabama Credit Union as on-site financial services provider

TUSCALOOSA, AL (August 28, 2015) — Mobile-based Austal USA has selected Alabama Credit Union to deliver financial services to its over 4,000 employees. Alabama CU was selected from a field of nearly a dozen credit union alternatives based on a proposal that included the provision of financial services on site for employees.

Alabama Credit Union has a record of similar partnerships with other major Alabama employers, including Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Johnson Controls, AM/NS and Outokumpu (formerly ThyssenKrupp Steel and Stainless) and other employers who recognize that quality credit union service is a highly sought fringe benefit.

“We’re excited to partner with Alabama Credit Union,” Austal USA President Craig Perciavalle said. “This effort enables us to enhance the lives of Austal’s tremendous workforce by offering additional benefits and access to outstanding financial services.”

Alabama Credit Union will offer Austal employees service via a specially equipped mobile van while a permanent office is constructed, and will supplement service to the Austal site with a number of ATMs. Alabama CU’s products include free checking, online and mobile banking features including remote check deposit, low-interest auto loans, credit cards that offer reward points and a selection of MasterCard Debit products.

“We are honored to have been selected to serve Austal USA, certainly a world-class company,” said Alabama Credit Union President Steve Swofford. “We intend to have a positive impact on the lives of Austal employees by providing a complete package of cost-effective financial services, delivered with a degree of personal service seldom found today.” Swofford noted the planned on-site credit union office would augment Alabama CU’s 25 existing offices, seven of which are in Mobile and Baldwin counties.
