Avadian celebrates second annual Impact Week, serves at local nonprofits and gives gift cards to local communities

Orange-clad employees of Avadian Credit Union spent the week of April 28 bringing delight to people around the state. Armed with gift cards, breakfast and bottles of water, 96 Avadian employees participated in 45 separate Impact Week events, including the following:

•       Serving breakfast at the Jimmie Hale Mission
•       Handing out water at community parks
•       Paying for groceries at Walmart and Publix
•       Taking breakfast to sheriff and police departments
•       Paying for gas fill-ups at Costco
•       Hosting a packing party for Vineyard Family Services Backpack Buddies program

“It’s so rewarding to get out in the community and put smiles on a few faces,” said Chief Executive Officer Linda Cencula. “We love being a part of local events and festivals, but this gives us a better opportunity to connect with people one-on-one.”

Avadian employee Shelby Samuell described the reaction from one community member at the Publix in Trussville.

“As the mom was carefully picking out apples, I told her Avadian Credit Union would like to delight her and her family by giving her a Publix gift card,” Samuell said. “Without even knowing how much the gift card was for, she was so appreciative! She said ‘Thank you so much!’ with tears in her eyes.”
