AVANA CUSO, a credit union service organization specializing in commercial real estate lending, will tackle loan delinquency in its newest session of its comprehensive six-part webinar series on special asset management. The series addresses growing industry concerns as the National Credit Union Administration reports federally insured credit unions saw total delinquency rates rise to 98 basis points in the fourth quarter of 2024, up 15 basis points a year earlier.
The second webinar will take place on May 20 at 10:00 a.m. PT. Participants will learn strategies for identifying early warning signs, implementing effective monitoring systems, and developing proactive approaches to managing delinquent loans. Steven Ellsworth, SVP of Portfolio Management at AVANA Companies, will lead the entire series and share his 30+ years of expertise in special asset management.
"Our first webinar revealed that thorough documentation review is the cornerstone of effective problem loan management," said Ellsworth. "This next session tackles loan delinquency management as rates climb across the industry. Credit unions that master these practical strategies can spot troubled loans earlier, reduce losses and strengthen their portfolios even in challenging economic conditions."
The six-part series provides a clear roadmap for credit unions addressing problem loans, with each section building on the previous one. Sessions cover understanding and documenting loan details, managing delinquency, communicating effectively, engaging legal counsel, devising legal strategies and assessing collateral value.
"AVANA believes in empowering credit unions through continued education," said Sundip Patel, CEO of AVANA Companies. "Credit unions need it to stay on top of trends in the ever-changing finance world, especially with all the uncertainty we face today. Our webinar series combines practical knowledge with our tech-enabled tools to help credit unions navigate these challenging times effectively."
The first two webinars in the series are free and open to all credit union professionals. Subsequent sessions will be exclusive to AVANA CUSO partners and program subscribers, providing more in-depth strategies and techniques. The series offers ongoing education in this critical area of special asset management.
