Balance for better on International Women’s Day

Global women opens 2019 scholarship program March 8

Global Women’s Leadership Network (GWLN) is calling upon the worldwide credit union movement to build a gender-balanced world on International Women’s Day 2019 by encouraging industry women to apply for the Network’s 2019 scholarship.

Successful candidates will participate in World Council's Diversity & Inclusion conference-track during the 2019 World Credit Union Conference to receive education and expand their professional networks. The D&I Program is dedicated to advancing women and young leaders worldwide by presenting them with educational sessions, opportunities for networking and expanding business relationships, and diversifying skill sets that promote professional development throughout the week of the Conference. Scholarship applications are due April 8, 2019.

“Our scholarships give women in the credit union movement an opportunity to develop new skills, tools and resources to make an impact,” said Eleni Giakoumopoulos, program director of Global Women’s Leadership Network. “GWLN is excited to open our application period on International Women’s Day 2019. We wholeheartedly embrace this year’s theme of #BalanceForBetter. The very reason World Council established Global Women in 2009 was to address the credit union industry’s gender gap, while also leveraging resources to strengthen the economic security of women and their families. We continue to work toward that goal every day.”

The GWLN suite of programming provides women with tangible skills, tools and resources they need to lead, and offers actionable steps for organizations to follow. GWLN membership is open to all women and men in the credit union industry, and active participation in GWLN activities is strongly encouraged.
