Ball State Financial opens next generation banking center

Renovation provides refreshed look and new technology to support members

MUNCIE, INDIANA (October 28, 2022) — Ball State Financial celebrated the ribbon cutting of its Oakwood Avenue location, welcoming members and the community to their remodeled banking center.

During the ceremony on Wednesday, attendees heard from Dan Ridenour, Mayor of Muncie, Geoffrey Mearns, President of Ball State University, Elizabeth Rowray, Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce President, and Cam Minges, President and CEO of Ball State Financial. The speakers echoed a united message – Ball State Financial is proud of its Ball State University heritage and is committed to serving East Central Indiana for decades to come.

Ball State Financial is a division of Indianapolis-based Financial Center First Credit Union. The two credit unions merged in 2020 over a shared commitment to financial education and member service, retaining the well-known Ball State brand in the Muncie offices/ATMs.

The renovation of the Oakwood location was managed by DEI, a leading design/build company specializing in banks and credit unions. Construction began in June of 2022 and the location has been open and serving members throughout the entire remodel process. Ball State Financial would additionally like to extend a special thanks to our local contractors: QSI, Conzer Security, C-CAT, Jay Crew, The Sign Group, Hellyer Plumbing, Resolve Tech LLC, Muegge Heating Plumbing & Electric, Luna Drywall, and Little Construction.

The renovation encompassed the retail and member service areas, including a refresh of the lobby and member service offices, the addition of a financial library/media center and coffee station, plus improvements to the drive-up and safe deposit box areas. Inside the branch, members will find cuttingedge technology including interactive teller machines and device charging stations.

The design of the location honors the partnership with Ball State University, featuring their signature red, black, and white color palette and includes graphic elements that showcase local history. Offices display custom paintings by Carmel-based artist and BSU alum, Kira Shemesh.

“We are proud to continue our commitment to Muncie by transforming our banking center into a place for education, technology, and community engagement,” said Dusty Simmons, Chief Strategy Officer.

Ball State Financial also updated its BSU Student Center location and ATMs throughout Muncie in 2022. The credit union invites the community to attend its family-friendly Community Celebration on Saturday, October 29 from 10 AM – 1 PM at 2900 N. Oakwood Avenue. The event will include free food, prizes, face painting, pumpkins for children, trick or treat stations, and more.
