Baton Rouge area credit unions band together to support Our Lady of the Lake’s Children’s Hospital
BATON ROUGE, LA (December 7, 2015) — More than $43,000 was raised for Our Lady of the Lake’s Children’s Hospital when Baton Rouge Telco Federal, Campus Federal, EFCU Financial, Neighbors Federal and Pelican State credit unions joined forces to host the Baton Rouge Area Credit Union Charity Golf Tournament. Held on Nov. 9, 2015, in Plaquemine, La. at the Island Golf Course, the 12th annual tournament raised a record $43,631.96.
The total raised for the hospital includes a $10,000 Miracle Match from CO-OP Financial Services. Miracle Match is a philanthropic matching program that encourages credit unions to fundraise for local Children Miracle Network Hospitals such as Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital.
The hospital is Louisiana’s fastest-growing children’s hospital. Last year, the hospital saw children from all 64 Louisiana parishes and several counties in Mississippi and Texas, treating more than 110,000 patients. The hospital is looking to the future, preparing to care for the ever-increasing number of children and families who come to them for their healthcare needs.
Each year, this event is planned in the cooperative spirit of credit unions and is a testament to the industry’s philosophy of ‘people helping people.’ The tournament is supported by the CEOs of the five host credit unions: Darryl Long of Baton Rouge Telco Federal, Dawn Harris of Campus Federal, Tyler Grodi of EFCU Financial, Kathi Gill and Steve Webb of Neighbors Federal and Jeffrey K. Conrad of Pelican State.
La Capitol Federal Credit Union was the headlining platinum sponsor of the event, and over 150 professionals from credit unions and local businesses came together to support this charity event.

Over the last four years, the Baton Rouge Area Credit Union Charity Golf Tournament has raised over $150,000 for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. These funds will contribute to the hospital’s plans for future growth.
