Bay City teacher is first recipient of MIDream Grant

MSUFCU partners with Michigan Education Association (MEA) to provide $500 grant

MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) is pleased to announce that Amanda Young of Bay Arenac Intermediate School District in Bay City has been named the winner of the first MIDream Grant. The grant was presented in partnership with the Michigan Education Association (MEA) and MSUFCU to support MEA members, and includes $250 given to the recipient for use in his or her classroom or school project, and another $250 donated to a charity of his or her choice.

“We are starting a lending library for our special education preschool classrooms to improve early literacy skills,” said Amanda. “This money will help us purchase books.”

For her charity, Amanda selected Area 9 Special Olympics.

“MEA Financial Services (FS) is pleased to have partnered with MSUFCU to offer the MIDream grant,” said Bruce M. Reaume, MEA FS Executive Director. “As MSUFCU and MEA FS share similar visions of quality member benefits and a commitment to education, it is exciting to see this partnership result in such a worthy outcome.”

“MEA members play a key role in serving the youth of our communities, and this grant offered an opportunity for us to show our appreciation for their hard work,” said Deidre Davis, MSUFCU’s Chief Marketing Officer. “The grant also provides funds for a community organization the grant recipient champions. We look forward to continuing our partnership with MEA and supporting its members through the MIDream Grant.”
