Woodbridge, VA, September 27, 2012 – Earlier this month, Belvoir Federal Credit Union sponsored a Safety Security Day at Woodlawn Village Community Center, Fort Belvoir, VA in conjunction with the event’s host, the Belvoir Enlisted Spouses Club (BESC).

The purpose of Safety Security Day was to promote safety and security in the home for Woodlawn residents. The event held fire safety demonstrations, home security preparedness, and provided child identification kits to the first 500 children, compliments of Belvoir Federal Credit Union.

“It is important for families to take control of their own security,” stated Barbara Zimmerman, the BESC’s Vice President. “I don’t think people are aware of how easy it is to start fires in their own home. Good safety preventions and security measures can be taken to prevent fires.”

Belvoir Federal’s Installation Liaison and Membership Development Officer, Stephanie Crabtree, stated, “Belvoir Federal is proud to help sponsor this event. It is important to our organization to support events such as this since they help with safety and quality of life on Fort Belvoir.”

The Belvoir Enlisted Spouses Club is a non-profit organization on Fort Belvoir that hosts events for military families of enlisted soldiers. For more information, call 703.781.0407.
