WOODBRIDGE, VA (April 25, 2014) -- Belvoir Federal Credit Union helped support the Month of the Military Child (MOMC) Celebration throughout the month of April on Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
The MOMC honors the sacrifices made by military children during their parent’s deployments, relocations, and other military-related activities. The month of celebration has several events for the children and their families hosted by the Fort Belvoir Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (DFMWR) and Child, Youth, and School Services (CYSS).
DFMWR and CYSS planned more than 30 events throughout the month to honor the children with military parents, including a celebration dinner, KidsFest, arts and crafts, TeenFest, book fair, group runs, Easter egg hunts for all ages, bowling, TroutFest, and Child Abuse Prevention Month (CAPM) events. Belvoir Federal had information booths at several events throughout the month as well as provided water and give-a-ways for event attendees.
Sharon Leake, Belvoir Federal’s Installation Liaison and Membership Development Officer, attended the Spaghetti Dinner kick-off event. “I’m so glad that Belvoir Federal was able to be a part of such a wonderful event. Being a military spouse, mother, and grandmother, it was very special to be able to spend time with the families who serve our country,” stated Sharon.
