BHFCU celebrates Cheyenne River grand opening with $5,700 of giving

EAGLE BUTTE, SD (November 7, 2023)Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) celebrated the  grand opening of its Cheyenne River location by giving back to the tune of $5,700.

BHFCU celebrated the grand opening of its newly renovated Cheyenne River location in October with a week-long celebration, including a community-giving component. Members and area residents  were encouraged to visit the new location to enter to win $500 cash plus the opportunity to select a  charity to receive a $5,000 donation. Additionally, four winners won $50 Monday – Thursday.

“We are thrilled to be in our new, permanent location in Eagle Butte and loved celebrating it with our  members,” said Robyn Miller, Cheyenne River Manager. “When planning our grand opening, we wanted to give back to several individuals and allow them the chance to impact the community.”

The lucky $500 winner, Tricia, selected the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe (CRST) Head Start program to receive the $5,000 donation. The organization provides culturally relevant education to prepare  children for kindergarten and inspire a lifetime love of learning.

“Giving the decision-making power to our winner made this a truly community-based celebration of  our new location,” explained Miller.

The new Cheyenne River location provides members with convenient access and the team with a  much larger space to serve them. BHFCU has served Eagle Butte and the Cheyenne River Reservation for more than 11 years. The newly remodeled building allows the credit union to put down more solid roots in the community.

BHFCU supports community needs through corporate contributions, employee fundraisers, and  donations from members and community supporters to the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a  501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
