RAPID CITY, SD (July 12, 2023) — Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) was recently included in Forbes’ Best Credit Union In Each State 2023 list. The list recognizes BHFCU as a top credit union in South Dakota based on the opinions of members. They were also the only South Dakota credit union recognized.
To create the list, Forbes partnered with market research firm, Statista, surveying approximately 31,000 U.S. residents. Survey participants were asked to name all banks and credit unions where they had checking or savings accounts and evaluate them on specific criteria. The listing also considered Google Reviews when calculating the top financial institutions.
“We were thrilled to be included in Forbes’ Best Credit Unions list and honored when we found out we are the only credit union named in South Dakota,” said Jerry Schmidt, Chief Executive Officer. “We focus on taking care of our members and giving back to the communities we serve. To be recognized by our members in this way is quite a tribute to our team’s efforts.”
Upholding the credit union philosophy of people helping people, BHFCU is dedicated to giving back to their communities through financial education, services, sponsorships, monetary contributions, and volunteering.
Survey participants evaluated financials on their customer service, the quality of the financial advice offered, fee transparency, website navigation, in-person services, and the level of trust the company inspires. After tallying was completed, Forbes recognized 147 credit unions across the United States.
