BHFCU staff-led giving program raises $6,300 and Volunteers 86 hours in June and July

RAPID CITY, SD (August 14, 2023) — Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) believes it is imperative to support the passions of its staff. That’s why they promote the staff-led Community Action Team (CAT) program and are proud to share that staff raised more than $6,300 and
volunteered 86 hours during June and July.

Over the past two months, the CAT program focused on supporting organizations that help create a better community and fight hunger and homelessness. The effort raised money for and volunteered with seven organizations, Habitat for Humanity of the Black Hills, the Black Hills National Forest Service, two Adopt-A-Mile programs, the Cornerstone Rescue Mission, The Banquet, and WAVI.

“Our team of co-chairs found ways to get everyone involved in June and July,” said Leslie Millard, Marketing Communications Specialist. “From selling dozens of homemade breakfast burritos and over 100 specially designed stickers to spending time cleaning highways and building homes, BHFCU staff had fun helping others.”

CAT co-chairs organized Adopt-A-Mile cleanups in Sioux Falls and Rapid City, meal service at the Banquet in Sioux Falls, and a Habitat for Humanity build, totaling 86 hours volunteered. They also raised $6,300 by planning a breakfast concession stand, designing and selling
BHFCU-exclusive stickers, and encouraging monetary donations to purchase blankets for the people experiencing homelessness.

BHFCU supports community needs through corporate contributions, employee fundraisers, and donations from members and community supporters to the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
