BHFCU staff-led giving program raises over $4,500 in September

RAPID CITY, SD (October 18, 2023)Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) believes it is  imperative to support the passions of its staff. That’s why they promote the staff-led Community  Action Team (CAT) program and are proud to share that staff raised $4,550.

Last month, the CAT program supported organizations focused on health and wellness. The  effort raised money for four organizations; the Alzheimer’s Association, the Parkinson’s

Foundation, Journey On, and Americans for Suicide Prevention.

“We decided to go back to the roots of fundraising and hosted our first annual Bake Sale,” said  Meghan Rose, Marketing Specialist. “Who doesn’t love a home-baked sweet? With nearly 20  BHFCU staff baking, we amassed hundreds of delicious baked goods to help support worthy  causes.”

CAT co-chairs organized a traditional bake sale with pre-orders and day-of items available.

Over the course of three weeks, 19 BHFCU bakers handmade 625+ items, donating more than  90 hours of their time and the cost of ingredients. The sale brought in more than $1,400 of funds  raised during September.

Staff also participated in fundraising walks, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Rapid City, the Heart  Walk in Pierre, and the Out of the Darkness Walk in Sioux Falls.

BHFCU supports community needs through corporate contributions, employee fundraisers, and  donations from members and community supporters to the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a  501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
