BHFCU Vice President named to 2024 Class of Leadership South Dakota

RAPID CITY, SD (June 29, 2023) — At Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU), our mission is to improve lives. Our nearly 400 staff members bring that mission to life daily. That’s why it was no surprise when Joey Rotert, VP Eastern Market, was named to the 2024 Class of Leadership South Dakota.

“I was excited when I learned I’d been named to the next Leadership South Dakota class,” Rotert said. “I’m energized to learn more about our great state and how I can help make it a better place to live and work.”

Leadership South Dakota’s mission is to connect leaders from across the state who will invest in themselves, engage communities, and elevate South Dakota. This vision speaks directly to Rotert’s personal and professional goals. Early in his career, he recognized his passion for development, community, and relationship building.

Born and raised in Salem, South Dakota, Rotert started his career in the South but quickly found his way back to his roots in the form of a Sioux Falls job opportunity. Having spent time at three other financial institutions, Rotert joined BHFCU in May 2022. He notes leadership, vision, the opportunity for skillset expansion, and, most importantly, BHFCU’s culture as reasons he joined the team.

“As with most career paths, I met some extraordinary people that took a chance on a young person hungry for success and helped me understand what my version of success looked like,” explained Rotert. “As I embark on the next part of my journey, I’m excited to be part of a leadership team with a vision for people – staff, members, and our communities.”

As VP Eastern Market at BHFCU, Rotert most enjoys collaborating with a diverse team, helping them navigate their paths to success. His role also allows him to deepen BHFCU’s culture in communities like Pierre, Cheyenne River, and Sioux Falls by offering the best services and experience for members and non-members alike.

When he’s not working to better his communities, Rotert enjoys spending time with his family, including chasing his two daughters, Maci and Haylee, to their sporting events. When the kid’s schedule slows, he and his wife, Jackie, love hitting the golf course, pursuing wildlife across the state, and cruising in their ranger.

From all of us at Black Hills Federal Credit Union, congratulations Joey for the well-deserved recognition as a 2024 Leadership South Dakota class member.

Joey Rotert
