DAYTON, OH (May 8, 2026) |
Day Air Credit Union is proud to announce that Chief Executive Officer Bill Burke has been named the recipient of the Robert Kloss Professional Achievement Award, one of the Ohio Credit Union League’s highest honors recognizing exceptional leadership and long-term contributions to the credit union movement.
The Robert Kloss Professional Achievement Award is presented annually to a credit union CEO or senior executive who demonstrates outstanding professionalism, integrity, dedication, and leadership within their organization and across the broader credit union movement.
Burke has dedicated more than four decades to the credit union industry, including nearly three decades as CEO of Day Air Credit Union. Under his leadership, Day Air has grown from approximately $80 million in assets to nearly $900 million today, becoming the largest financial institution headquartered in Montgomery County while maintaining a strong commitment to improving the financial well-being of its members and strengthening the Miami Valley community.
Throughout his career, Burke has played a significant role in advancing the credit union movement beyond his own organization. He most recently served as Immediate Past Chair of the Ohio Credit Union League Board of Directors and has held leadership roles with several national credit union service organizations supporting innovation and collaboration across the industry.
“Bill’s leadership has shaped not only Day Air Credit Union, but the broader credit union movement across Ohio,” said Day Air Credit Union President John David Theobald. “For nearly three decades as CEO, he has built a strong and resilient organization while never losing sight of our mission to improve the financial well-being of our members. His integrity, vision, and commitment to people have made a lasting impact on our associates, our members, and the communities we serve.”
In addition to guiding Day Air’s sustained growth and financial strength, Burke has championed initiatives that expand access to financial education, support community partnerships, and reinforce the cooperative philosophy of “People Helping People.” Under his leadership, the credit union has become a highly visible and engaged partner throughout the Miami Valley, supporting organizations such as The Victory Project, Dayton Children’s Hospital, SICSA Pet Adoption & Wellness Center, and numerous other community initiatives.
The Robert Kloss Professional Achievement Award recognizes individuals whose careers reflect a deep and lasting commitment to the credit union philosophy and movement. Burke’s leadership and service over more than 40 years exemplify those values.
