Biz Kid$ beneficiary of 2015 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl

Proceeds from each ticket to benefit youth in San Diego

Biz Kid$, the award winning financial literacy television series funded by America’s Credit Unions, will be the beneficiary of the 2015 San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®) Poinsettia Bowl, donating $1 of each ticket sold to teach kids in San Diego about money and business.

“Physical fitness takes training and conditioning with good coaches along the way,” said Gigi Hyland, Executive Director of the National Credit Union Foundation (the Foundation). “The same could be said for financial fitness and at the Foundation, we believe that all people should have the education, tools and resources needed to achieve financial freedom. One of the best financial literacy tools available is Biz Kid$, so we are so grateful for SDCCU and everyone who attends the game.”

The National Credit Union Foundation is responsible for fundraising and outreach of the Biz Kid$ program, a national financial literacy initiative that teaches kids about money and business. The overall objective of Biz Kid$ is to engage young people and help them develop life skills such as budgeting, saving, entrepreneurship.  Each Biz Kid$ episode is funded exclusively by credit unions from across the country.

“SDCCU is proud that Biz Kid$ is the beneficiary of the 2015 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. Each ticket sold for this year’s game has the potential to benefit thousands of students in our community, and the San Diego region, for years into the future,” said SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Halleck. “As San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, and a Live Well San Diego partner, SDCCU is committed to encouraging and maintaining good financial health among individuals in our communities, which is essential to fostering a healthy and thriving economy.”

SDCCU is celebrating 11 years as the title sponsor of the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.  The money generated as a result of tickets sold for the bowl game will be used to provide additional sets of the SDCCU Biz Kid$ Program to teachers in San Diego County.
