MADISON, WI (October 3, 2022) — The National Credit Union Foundation (the Foundation) has announced the honorees of its 34th annual Herb Wegner Memorial Awards—the U.S. credit union movement’s highest national honors.

Linda Bodie, Chief Executive Officer + Innovator of Element Federal Credit Union (W.V.); Brian Branch, former President and CEO of the World Council; Bill Cheney, Chief Executive Officer of SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union (Calif.) and Winona Nava, President/CEO of Guadalupe Credit Union (N.M.) will each receive an Outstanding Individual Achievement award.

It is the first time since 2018 that four individuals will receive a Herb Wegner Memorial Award. The winners will be celebrated at the Foundation Dinner on February 27, 2023, held in conjunction with CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington D.C.

The Foundation Dinner is the non-profit’s primary fundraising event. In addition to the Herb Wegner Memorial Award presentation, the event highlights the Foundation’s impact and work to improve people’s financial lives through credit unions.

“The Herb Wegner Memorial Awards are a symbol of human service,” said Gigi Hyland, executive director of the Foundation. “Collectively, these four individuals have dedicated almost 150 years to the credit union movement.

“Through their vision, leadership and commitment to the cooperative principles, they have had—and continue to have—an immeasurable impact on financial well-being at a global level. By celebrating their storied achievements, the Foundation seeks to catalyze all of us to do as much as we can to ensure everyone can achieve financial freedom through credit unions.”

Individual tickets and sponsorship opportunities are now available. Further information is available on the Foundation’s website, www.ncuf.coop/foundationdinner.
