Building a better community: Connex Credit Union teams up with Habitat for Humanity to help change lives

NORTH HAVEN, CT (November 10, 2015) — As part of its philanthropic program, ConnexCares, Connex Credit Union recently teamed up with Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven  to participate in its annual local Habitat for Humanity build. This year, volunteers from Connex rolled up their sleeves and helped paint the first and second floors of a brand new home located at 25 Hawthorne Road in New Haven. In addition to their physical contributions, Connex donated $1,000 for continued support towards Habitat for Humanity’s efforts.

“It was extremely rewarding watching my fellow colleagues come together to help such an incredible organization,” said Louise Nestor, director of marketing, Connex Credit Union. “We were thrilled to lend our assistance, and we look forward to helping out each year. ConnexCares is a pivotal piece in the foundation of the values of our credit union.”

Founded in 1986, Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven is a subsidiary of the international Habitat for Humanity program, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing through the creation of home ownership opportunities for low-income working families. Habitat builds and rehabilitates homes in the Greater New Haven area with the goal of creating safe, decent, affordable houses that add to the revitalization of New Haven’s neighborhoods.

This is just one of numerous charitable initiatives that Connex partakes in throughout the year. If you would like to learn more about ConnexCares, please visit www.connexcu.org
