Business and community leaders and professionals will “pucker up” to help area schools

TruMark Financial®Credit Union launches Fourth Annual Kiss-a-Pig Financial Literacy Fundraiser

TREVOSE, PA (May 14, 2014) -- Thirty-two business and community leaders, professionals, and teachers will pucker up to compete for the privilege of kissing a pig in TruMark Financial’s Fourth Annual Kiss-a-Pig Financial Literacy Fundraiser, to support area schools in need of personal finance resources.

On May 8, TruMark Financial kicked off its Kiss-a-Pig Financial Literacy Fundraiser with a luncheon for participants at a local restaurant in Northeast Philadelphia. Over the next four months, participants will be raising sponsorship money to earn the privilege of kissing a pig in support of financial literacy. Last year TruMark Financial raised $44,000 and awarded $5,500 grants to eight schools to use for personal finance resources. This year’s goal is $50,000.

Fundraising efforts will culminate with a “pig kissing” event on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Piazza at Schmidt’s, 1015 N. 2nd St., Philadelphia, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., where family, friends, and colleagues of the participants will cheer for them as they pucker up for this worthy cause.

Schools participating in the fundraiser will be awarded grants to purchase resources to teach financial concepts, providing students with a better understanding of managing money.

The Philadelphia Foundation, a public charity and community foundation which manages more than 800 charitable funds, will provide support for some of the administrative aspects of the Kiss-a-Pig Financial Literacy Fundraiser. Donations can be sent to The Philadelphia Foundation, Financial Literacy Fund of TruMark Financial, P.O. Box 753, Langhorne, PA 19047. The Philadelphia Foundation will send donors acknowledgement letters for their tax-deductible donations.
