Butte Community Federal Credit Union is approved for a rural field of membership expansion

Butte Community FCU was recently approved to serve six new counties in Montana

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 15, 2020) — The NCUA recently approved the additions of a rural area to Butte Community FCU’s field of membership. The rural area allows Butte Community FCU to offer their services to anyone who lives, works, worships, studies, and businesses in Silver Bow, Beaverhead, Madison, Deer Lodge, Powell, or Jefferson Counties, Montana. The district increases the credit union’s potential field of membership by 81,361 potential members, more than tripling its current potential membership.

“We look forward to serving the people in these counties. Many of them live in areas with few options when it comes to financial service providers,” said Karen Mandic, President of Butte Community FCU. “We hope they’re excited about the advantages of being able to join our credit union.”

Butte Community FCU enlisted the help of CUCollaborate to expand their existing field of membership. CUCollaborate provides consulting services to help credit unions expand their field of membership with their regulator.

“CUCollaborate was able to answer any of the questions I had around the rural expansion. They worked with me and the NCUA to make sure our application was approved. I would use them again for any future field of membership expansion projects.” Karen Mandic stated. “I also want to thank Montana’s Credit Unions for providing CUCollaborate’s consulting services as a benefit of our affiliation.”

“We are excited for Butte Community’s recent field of membership application approval. Helping credit unions expand into more rural areas allows them to better support their community and those that may not have access to an easily accessible financial institution. We look forward to working with Butte Community on future projects.” said Sam Brownell, Founder and CEO of CUCollaborate.
