Call Federal announces winners of 2015 Alice S. Pearce Scholarship Awards

RICHMOND, VA (May 11, 2015) -- Call Federal Credit Union is awarding $2,500 scholarships to four outstanding students in the Metro Richmond area. The Alice S. Pearce Scholarship Award recognizes the contributions of Call Federal Credit Union’s first manager, Alice S. Pearce, who served from the credit union’s founding in 1962 until her retirement in 1991.

According to Call Federal’s Marketing Director, Kristen Ramos, the credit union received a record number of applicants this year. “In the past, the scholarship program recognized exceptional high school seniors. This year, we opened up the program to include students who are already enrolled in a community college, 4-year college or university, or trade school - as well as graduating high school students. This change attracted a record number of applicants,” said Ramos.

Call Federal’s 2015 Alice S. Pearce Scholarship winners are:

  • Bryce Badura– Chesterfield, Clover Hill High School
  • Asia Rather– Henrico, Varina High School
  • Zaire Sprowal– Chesterfield, University of Mary Washington
  • Haleigh Wilkins– Hanover, Atlee High School

Call Federal evaluated the applicants on their academic performance, extra-curricular leadership, community involvement, and scholarship essay submission.
