Canvas Credit Union and Canvas Foundation share 2023 Annual Community Impact update

The credit union has given more than $420,000 to 150 organizations across Colorado in 2023.

DENVER, CO (January 17, 2024) — Canvas Credit Union and Canvas Foundation are pleased to unveil their 2023 Community Impact Report, showcasing comprehensive details of financial contributions and community service initiatives throughout the year.

Canvas Credit Union was founded on the principle of fulfilling community needs. Recognizing that financial wellness is foundational to overall wellbeing, Canvas is uncompromising in its mission to help members feel empowered to take control of their finances. Canvas has intentionally woven the best interest of its members, employees and surrounding communities into each business decision. In line with this endeavor, the credit union established the Canvas Foundation in 2016 to focus giving efforts toward schools, family health and wellness, first responders and military.

“We are constantly inspired by the organizations dedicated to improving our community and we are proud to not just give, but partner with these organizations that work relentlessly to help people thrive,” said Todd Marksberry, president and CEO of Canvas Credit Union. “We have a goal to help Coloradans afford life, but that’s just the starting point for us. We share a vision with each of the organizations that we support, which is to propagate a cycle of wellness across the state.”

Canvas is committed to sustaining community involvement through strategic partnerships, fundraising endeavors, grants, donations, and dedicated volunteer efforts. In fact, Canvas is one of just 28% of employers offering paid volunteer time for employees. As a result, in 2023, 71% of Canvas employees actively volunteered, collectively contributing over 4,700 hours of their time to various causes.

Additionally, Canvas provided over 15,000 hours of financial education, reaching more than 13,000 people. The credit union’s Financial Success courses saw a 92% increase in total class attendance and a 53% increase in the number of classes presented from 2022.

Throughout the year, Canvas Credit Union and Canvas Foundation donated more than $420,000 to 150 organizations. Some of 2023’s milestones include:

  • Raising $50,000 and hosting 7 blood drives, benefitting the health of more than 450 children as part of its partnership with Colorado Children’s Hospital.
  • Collecting over 10,000 pounds of food donations from Canvas employees, facilitating the distribution of hundreds of complimentary Thanksgiving food bags to veterans in collaboration with the Colorado Veterans’ Project.
  • Awarding $55,000 in college scholarships to 36 students attending 25 different schools.

In addition to pouring support into community initiatives, Canvas Credit Union is dedicated to supporting the credit union movement.
