Canvas Credit Union and Canvas Foundation are continuing to grow the program that has provided more than $400,000 in college scholarships to hundreds of outstanding Colorado students over the past 9 years.
At this year’s annual scholarship banquet, Canvas Foundation awarded 58 Colorado students a combined total of more than $75,000 for demonstrating character, leadership and support for their communities while achieving academic excellence.
“These students are truly extraordinary. They’re not just making a difference—they’re shaping the future of their community. And this is just the beginning of their incredible journey,” said Chad Shane, CEO of Canvas Credit Union. “Whenever there’s an opportunity to invest in the bright minds who will drive tomorrow’s world, we will support without hesitation”
This year, there were five categories of scholarships presented:
- Canvas Gold Star Scholarship: provides $5,000 of college expenses to a graduating high school senior who lost a family member in active military service.
- Canvas Foundation Scholarship: honors the excellence of one high school senior and one college student with an award of $5,000 each.
- Canvas Community Scholarship: recognizes 35 impressive high school seniors, nominated by their schools (one in each Canvas branch community), with an award of $1,000 each.
- Canvas Community Leadership Award: honors one outstanding Community Scholarship recipient with an additional $5,000 award.
- Colorado 4-H Scholarship: Canvas Foundation provides the funding for twenty 4-H scholarships of $1,000 each through Colorado State University’s Office of Engagement & Extension.
“I am very thankful and grateful for this opportunity,” said one scholarship recipient. “It means I’ve had a very impactful career throughout high school and I was able to change my school, my world, my surroundings for the better.”
These are students who are working to make valuable investments into themselves and their futures through education, efforts that will ultimately benefit our entire community.
