Capital Credit Union donates 685 food items, $1,210 to AARC

GREEN BAY, WI (February 8, 2017) — Following the close of its holiday food drive, Capital Credit Union presented the Abused Adult Resource Center with a donation of 685 nonperishable food items and $1,210.

The credit union’s six Bismarck and Mandan locations served as donation collection sites from Nov. 28Jan. 7, giving members and the public the opportunity to drop off food items for the AARC, a local nonprofit that provides “emergency support, crisis intervention, temporary shelter, food, counseling, and advocacy to victims of domestic violence and domestic assault.” Members were also given the opportunity to make monetary donations.

In addition to collecting donations of food, Capital Credit Union approved a $1,200 donation to the AARC, the equivalent of each of its branches in Bismarck and Mandan donating $200 to the organization.

“Capital Credit Union holds itself accountable for being connected with our local community and demonstrating the ‘people helping people’ philosophy of credit unions,” shared one of Capital Credit Union’s committee presidents, Lacey Hetletved. “We’re proud to support an organization like the AARC that is so effective in positively impacting the lives of adults and kids in our community, and we’re thankful to have such generous members and employees who helped make this drive such a success.”

Upon learning about the amount of food items collected and the monetary donation from Capital Credit Union, the AARC expressed its gratitude and shared how it plans to use the donation.

“We thank Capital Credit Union employees and everyone involved in this drive,” said Diane Zainhofsky, Executive Director of the Abused Adult Resource Center. “The donation of $1,210 and food are very much appreciated. Food is always needed to serve the abused women and children in our shelters. Last year, we safely sheltered 251 women and children. And the donated funds will help us in providing the support services they need to move on to live free of violence.”
