Carina Cortez joins Ellie Mae as Executive Vice President of Human Resources

Former Vice President of Human Resources for Walmart US eCommerce and Walmart Labs joins leading California Technology Company

PLEASANTON, CA (February 14, 2018)Ellie Mae® (NYSE: ELLI), the leading cloud-based platform provider for the mortgage finance industry, today announced that Carina Cortez has joined the company as Executive Vice President of Human Resources. In this role, Carina will be responsible for leading the Company’s human resources organization with a focus on attracting and retaining top talent, managing workforce planning, as well as leading the talent development strategy to ensure Ellie Mae remains a best place to work.

Prior to joining Ellie Mae, Carina led the team of HR Business Partners supporting the 26,000+ associates at Walmart US eCommerce and Walmart Labs. She drove the human capital strategy for the organization, working closely with leadership to meet the growing needs of the business by focusing on strengthening people manager capabilities, top talent acceleration, organizational effectiveness and engagement and retention.

Before joining Walmart, Carina spent almost nine years at PayPal, where she held a variety of leadership roles. Most recently she served as the Senior Director of Learning and Organizational Development where she reimagined the Global Learning and Organization Development function for the Company. Prior to PayPal, Carina held numerous roles at Visa International, Inovant, a Visa subsidiary, and Visa USA. Carina earned a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resource Management from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
