Carolina Collegiate Federal Credit Union announces name change

Move seen as a positive step in reflecting growing and diverse membership

COLUMBIA, SC (September 30, 2017) — For fifty years, Carolina Collegiate Federal Credit Union has been a dynamic financial services provider and partner in the area. Now, the credit union is taking a step towards an enhanced membership experience for all current and future member-owners.

“The banking norms have changed dramatically through the years,” said Carolina Collegiate FCU President Anne Shivers. “We are constantly looking for the best banking approaches for our member-owners and new ways to enhance their membership experience. Our board and leadership team understands that to successfully meet the needs of each member as lives change and the world evolves, our credit union must adapt as well.”

Effective October 2, 2017, Carolina Collegiate FCU will proudly be known as Caro – Smart Financial Solutions. The name change has no impact on any member accounts.

“Our new name is also a proud recognition of our founding members, many of which came from the University of South Carolina,” Shivers added. “As we move forward to serve new areas and members, we will always be mindful of and grateful for the education affiliation that began our story. Far from being a move away from these roots, this name change allows us to address broader audiences, taking the vital message of not-for-profit financial services to existing and future members, across generations and across our nation.”

Members will continue to enjoy their membership experience. The name Caro – Smart Financial Solutions will help fuel growth, thus enhancing and increasing the resources that allow the credit union to better serve the changing financial needs of the community.
