Centra Foundation to award twenty-five scholarships through Loretta M. Burd Scholarship Program
COLUMBUS, IN (May 31, 2018) — Twenty- five local students will be getting a boost from the Loretta M. Burd Scholarship Program for the 2018-2019 school year. This year the Centra Foundation was able to award a $2,500 High School Scholarship for each Centra location, and two $2,500 Adult Scholarships, for a total of twenty five scholarships awarded!
The scholarships will support tuition, books and fees to help students earn a degree. The Loretta M. Burd Scholarship applications were very competitive this year. In total, the Centra Foundation received 156 impressive applications. The winners were selected based on involvement in their local communities, academic achievements, and an essay regarding financial literacy.
“Both Centra Foundation and Centra Credit Union place a high value on education and the importance of individuals pursuing higher education opportunities to prepare for their futures. I am excited about the opportunity to award one scholarship per location this year and expand the reach of the Loretta M. Burd Scholarship Program,” said Jenni Carr, Centra Foundation Chair.
