ALBUQUERQUE, NM (May 14, 2026) |
Over 50 credit union professionals representing eight area credit unions came together Wednesday evening to support local students and families through a volunteer service project at Locker #505, a nonprofit organization that provides clothing to school-aged children in need.
Hosted by the Central New Mexico Chapter of Credit Unions, the Community Service Night brought together volunteers from participating credit unions to sort and organize donated clothing, assist with inventory, and help prepare the organization’s facility to continue serving local students throughout the community.
The event reflected the longstanding credit union philosophy of “people helping people” and highlighted the cooperative spirit shared by both credit unions and community nonprofits.
“Credit unions were founded on cooperation and service, and this event was a great example of that philosophy in action,” said Bill Daily, President of the Central New Mexico Chapter of Credit Unions. “We were proud to partner with Locker #505 and grateful for the support of TruStage to help make the evening possible. When cooperatives and community-focused organizations work together, we can make a meaningful difference for local families and students.”
Locker #505 serves thousands of students throughout Central New Mexico by providing access to quality clothing in a welcoming, student-focused environment. Referrals are made through schools, counselors, nurses, and social workers to help ensure children have the clothing they need to attend school comfortably and confidently.
Following the volunteer project, attendees gathered for food and networking, continuing the collaborative spirit that has long defined the credit union movement
