(Lake Mary, FL) As part of its 75th anniversary celebration, CFE Federal Credit Union sponsored the 2011-2012 Education Guide Art Contest. Students of all grades in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, and Volusia Counties of Florida were invited to submit their artwork into the competition. Four first place winners were awarded $500 each and 4 second place winners received $250.
The contest theme was “People Helping People,” which offered a wide variety of opportunity for students to show themselves, or someone they know, helping people. Judging of artwork was based on 4 groupings: K-2 grade, 3-5 grade, 6-8 grade, and 9-12 grade. Of the over 1600 entries, forty finalists – the top 10 in each group – and their families were invited to a special event where the students were recognized and the winners announced.
“We are excited to promote arts in the schools with worthwhile programs such as this one, said Joseph A. Melbourne, Jr. President, and CEO of CFE. “This art contest helped students develop their talents and provided an opportunity for them to earn cash prizes. It was enthusiastically supported by parents, teachers, and schools.”
A number of the art entries submitted will be showcased in a unique school calendar that CFE creates and distributes specifically for Orange and Osceola County school district employees. CFE plans to sponsor the 2012-2013 Art Contest to be introduced in the fall.
